Aurora Dance Arts presents its first annual “Emerging Creatives Showcase.” This end-of-summer, concert-style dance performance will include debut choreography from students in the advanced level choreography class. These choreographic works will be brought to life by dancers in our thriving adult dance training program. Showcase also includes select choreographic works by Aurora Dance Arts’ artistic director, Maggie Chapman, and instructor, Lex Pruisner.

We hope that you’ll join us for this fabulous show, full of passion and creativity from our emerging generation of talented young choreographers and our incredible community of adult performers!

Shadow and Light is an immersive collaboration that blurs the lines between concert, installation, and cinematic experience.

Bringing together musicians, visual artists, VJs, and designers, the performance transforms the Aurora Fox Arts Center into a continually evolving landscape of sound, projected imagery, sculptural light, and physical space. Rather than presenting separate artistic disciplines, Shadow and Light allow each element to shape the others, creating an environment that is at once intimate, expansive, and unpredictable.

At the center of the experience is a living dialogue between music, moving image, light, and space. Live video collage, real-time visual sampling, lighting, and set design become active participants, continually responding to and reshaping the emotional arc of the evening. Every moment unfolds organically, inviting audiences to experience the work with curiosity rather than expectation.

More than a performance, Shadow and Light is an invitation to inhabit a space where listening becomes seeing, seeing becomes feeling, and the familiar gives way to something unexpected.

They do their best to keep her fed and happy, but Beatrice always demands more. As she burrows deeper and deeper into their lives, the couple faces a horrific question: What will it cost to exorcise Beatrice forever? Kirsten Greenidge's spine-chilling gothic tale, about a contemporary Black couple haunted by the ghost of a young white girl, deftly explores questions of race, class and the American Dream.

The spectacular musical biography of the legendary singer-songwriter frequently mentioned alongside Louis Armstrong, Robert Johnson, Duke Ellington, Elvis and Bob Dylan as one of the great innovators of American popular music. The play follows Williams’ rise from his beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride to his triumphs on the Grand Ole Opry to his eventual self-destruction at twenty-nine. Along the way, we are treated to indelible songs like “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Move It on Over” and “Hey, Good Lookin’,” which are given fresh and profound resonance set in the context of Williams’ life.
